The weight, size and scope of application of a press tool decide how safely and economically the HVAC tradesmen is able to work with it on the building site. With the newly developed Pressgun 5, system supplier Viega is setting new standards here: The Pressgun 5 is particularly compact and weighs just 3.2 kilograms. Despite this, it can press all dimensions from 12 to 108 mm while powered by either battery or mains. According to the manufacturer, this makes it one of the smallest and lightest press tools on the market for so-called XL press connections.

Viega achieved the weight saving of over 20 percent in comparison with the previous model through its compact structure, a light housing construction and a new lithium-ion battery. It is only half as big as previously, while supplying twice the capacity with 18V/2.0 Ah. As a result, it is possible to work a full day on the building site using the battery without the need for recharging. As well as the high performance, the battery is characterised by an improved cold-start feature. Integrated monitoring electronics also effectively protect against deep discharge. This guarantees a long lifespan.

If the battery capacity declines, you can continue operating the Pressgun 5 using the mains supply. With the Pressgun 5, tradesmen are no longer forced to choose “battery or mains operation” for their pressing work. Instead, they can pick the best variation depending on the installation situation.

Can be used flexibly

The performance of the Pressgun 5, which weighs just 3.2 kilograms, is just as impressive. With a constant pressure of 32 kN and a range of use of 12 to 108 mm, it is equivalent to considerably bigger press tools. The small design, combined with the flexible press rings by Viega and the 180° press head, pays off – especially when space is tight. This is typical of installation works in a shaft or close to the cellar ceiling.

The ergonomic gun shape with soft-touch handle and integrated LED lamp for comfortable lighting of the pressing point also contribute to the simple handling of the Pressgun 5.

All press jaws can be used

In accordance with its performance, the Pressgun 5 can be used with virtually any press jaws and hinged press jaws from Viega. The mains power supply is also compatible with the battery versions of the previous Pressgun tools. This reduces the diversity of parts in the mobile workshop.

Long servicing intervals
The high quality of the Pressgun 5 is also made clear by the extended servicing intervals: It only needs to be serviced after 40,000 pressings (or after four years). An LED display will tell you about the relevant service in good time. At 42,000 pressings, the tool automatically switches off.
