How are your personal data processed?
General information on the purposes of data processing
We primarily process personal data in order to make available information about our products and services and to meet our contractual obligations to our customers.
We provide a variety of services which involve processing personal data. It is not possible for us to describe every detail of every type of processing. This is why we are giving you the essential information about data processing.
We primarily process data in order to meet our contractual obligations to our customers and users. Apart from that, we process your data for the purposes of our legitimate interests, taking into consideration your interests. In many cases, we are legally obliged to process data (for example, to provide data to investigating authorities). In all other cases, we obtain separate consent from you to your data being processed (for example, in smart home applications).
Information that you share with us
These are data that we obtain directly from you and information that you enter or submit on Viega websites and microsites, such as:
- Contact data (for example telephone number, email address)

- Access details for portals and applications (for example, user name and password)
- News, newsletter subscription, participation in events

How is your personal data processed globally?
Binding Corporate Rules
As an international company, we may also process personal data cross-border. In order to ensure a uniform and adequate level of data protection worldwide in such cases, we have implemented binding internal data protection regulations, known as Binding Corporate Rules (BCR).
These BCR have been comprehensively reviewed and approved by European data protection authorities. They set binding standards for the processing of personal data for our entire group of companies and comprehensively safeguard your rights as a data subject.

Terms used in our privacy statement
We have explained the terms used in the privacy statement for you to understand:
Viega: A company in the Viega Group that provides a service to a customer or potential customer. Unless otherwise stated, this refers to Viega GmbH & Co. KG.
Viega Group: All the companies in the Viega Group, regardless of whether or not they have Viega in their name.
Data Protection Manager: The person responsible for the Viega Group's Data Protection Management System.
Data Protection Officer: The person designated for one or more companies in accordance with Article 37 GDPR who performs the tasks described in Article 39 GDPR.
GDPR: Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
BCR: The Binding Corporate Rules of the Viega Group (BCR) are a binding internal data protection policy.
Personal data: In accordance with Article 4 (1) GDPR, any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
Profile: Viega platforms where the personal data entered by users are stored, displayed or otherwise processed.
Cookies: Small files that allow us to provide you, the user, with specific information that is relevant to you on your end device. You can block the storage of cookies via your browser settings.
Profiling: In accordance with Article 4 (4) GDPR, any form of automated processing of personal data consisting of the use of personal data to evaluate certain personal aspects relating to a natural person, in particular to analyse or predict aspects concerning that natural person's performance at work, economic situation, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behaviour, location or movements.
Newsletter: Newsletters, status emails and adverts for our own similar products and services or our own market research surveys.
Third country: A country outside the EU and the EEA.

If you apply for a position with us, we will process the personal data described below.

Applicant data
Applications to our company are submitted through SEEK. Applicants must upload their CV.
Category

- Contents of attached documents e.g. date of birth (voluntary), period of notice (voluntary), photograph (voluntary)
Data transfer
If an application is of interest, it will be transferred within the Viega Group to entities, that are involved in the selection and recruitment process for these positions.
Storage period
We delete this data when you ask us to delete it and this is legally possible. Applicant data is usually deleted 6 months after the position has been filled or after rejection; local laws may specify different retention periods.
Legal basis
The legal basis for this processing of personal data is the initiation of a contract or, in the case of storage in the talent pool, your consent (6.1 Binding Corporate Rules of the Viega Group).
Information that we obtain from other sources
As part of the application process, we use information about you that we do not directly collect from you.

SEEK is a provider of an online job marketplace. If applicants apply to a position advertised on SEEK, SEEK processes any information included in the application as a Controller. SEEK shares the profile and application information with us.
